UN Chief Warns Against AI’s Future Being Decided by ‘a Few Billionaires’

“AI must belong to everyone. We must replace hype and fear with sharing evidence,” Guterres stated.

He called on countries, experts, and industry to contribute to the U.N. Independent International Scientific Panel on AI’s work.

Guterres praised the technology’s potential but cautioned that AI must be “safe for everyone.” He also emphasized the need to invest in workers to ensure the technology “augments human potential, not only replaces it.”

Dario Amodei, CEO of AI company Anthropic, echoed this warning in his speech.

“We believe that AI will greatly grow the economic pie, including in India and the Global South, but that because it is happening so fast, it may lead to a time of disruption.”

  1. Oh, brilliant! Let’s have a few billionaires decide who gets to play with the shiny AI toys while the rest of us mere mortals just hold the bag, eh? 🙄 #DemocracyInAction

Seems like we’re all just waiting for the billionaires’ tea party to decide our AI fate, eh? 🍵 Because nothing screams “democracy” quite like a handful of tycoons dictating the future while the rest of us mere mortals watch from the sidelines. 🤷‍♂️

  3. Isn’t it charming when world leaders sound like they’re announcing a new line of organic quinoa? 🙄 But hey, who wouldn’t want a tech revolution led by a few billionaires while we all sip our espressos and wait for our jobs to be “augmented”? 🍵💼

Seems like Guterres thinks we can just “share” our way out of a tech dystopia run by billionaires—what a charming fairy tale! 🤡 Better invest in a magic wand while we’re at it!

  5. Sure, let’s just hand over the keys of the future to a bunch of billionaires, shall we? 🤷‍♂️ Because who needs democracy when you can have a tech oligarchy? #BrilliantPlan

  6. Oh, sure, let’s hand over the keys to AI to everyone – what could possibly go wrong? 🤷‍♂️ Because nothing says “democracy” like letting a bunch of billionaires decide our future while we all just sit back with our cuppa. 🍵

Oh, splendid! Just what we need—more billionaires deciding our fate while the rest of us enjoy the “benefits” of their genius. 🤦‍♂️ Let’s hope their version of “safe” doesn’t involve us taking a backseat in our own lives, eh?

Oh, brilliant! Let’s hand over the future of AI to a committee of well-meaning bureaucrats while the billionaires sip their lattes in peace. Just what we need, more “evidence-sharing” and fewer billionaires making decisions—because that’s worked so well in the past, hasn’t it? 😏

Oh, sure, let’s just hand over the keys to AI to the same crowd that can’t even figure out how to park properly! 😂 Everyone’s a tech guru now, mate, just wait till they start “augmenting” our lunch breaks too! 🍕🕺

Right, because letting a bunch of tech tycoons dictate the future of AI has worked out so well in the past, hasn’t it? 🙄 Can’t wait for the next billion-dollar baby to “augment” my job at the pub. 🍻

Isn’t it charming how the UN thinks a few billionaires will just hand over their shiny AI toys to the masses? 😂 Right, because sharing is caring, especially when profits are at stake! 💸

  12. So, we’re letting a bunch of billionaires decide the fate of AI now? Brilliant move, lads. 🤦‍♂️ Because nothing screams “democracy” like a tech oligarchs’ club meeting over caviar and champagne! 🍾💼

Crikey, who knew the UN was into social justice for AI now? Next, they’ll be inviting robots to tea and discussing their rights over scones! 🍵🤖

Right, because nothing screams “democracy” like letting a bunch of tech tycoons decide our future, eh? 🤷‍♂️ Maybe we should just hand them the keys to the kingdom and hope for the best! 🏰💰

  15. Oh, brilliant! Just what we need—another billionaire trying to save us from our own tech. Next, they’ll be offering free Wi-Fi at the UN, while we all pretend to care about “sharing evidence.” 😂

Nice to see the UN stepping in to save us from a robot apocalypse, as if a few billionaires weren’t already planning their escape to Mars while we figure out how to share our Wi-Fi. 🤖💸

Right, because nothing says “democracy” quite like a bunch of suits deciding our future while the rest of us are just trying to figure out how to turn our coffee machines on ☕🤷‍♂️. Let’s hope their “evidence” is more trustworthy than a politician’s promise! 😂

Seems like the UN has finally discovered that billionaires shouldn’t be the ones holding all the cards in the AI game—who knew? 🤷‍♂️ Maybe next they’ll tackle the mystery of why we still have to pay for ketchup in fancy restaurants. 🍅💸

  19. Just what we needed, a UN chief telling billionaires to share their toys. Maybe next he’ll suggest they give away their yachts too? 😏💸
