Gonzato at the High-Level Conference: Justice Central to Albania’s EU Accession Process

A high-level conference in Tirana, supported by the “EU for Justice” project, convened judges, prosecutors, civil society representatives, and international partners to explore how clearer and more consistent judicial practices can enhance the quality of justice in Albania.

The discussions aimed at strengthening justice quality through improved access to judicial practices and better coordination to ensure fairer and more predictable decisions.

European Union Ambassador to Tirana, Silvio Gonzato, emphasized the importance of justice in the context of Albania’s EU accession during his address at the conference.

He noted the conference’s relevance to every citizen regarding the quality and efficiency of justice.

“Today’s conference establishes the agenda for the upcoming year, concentrating on the rule of law, the consolidation of justice reform, and support for all judicial institutions, including the High Court and the Constitutional Court,” Ambassador Gonzato stated.

“Albanian judges face the challenge of a growing backlog while maintaining high justice standards, necessitating decisive action from the HJC and HPC, especially in increasing the number of judges along with sufficient legal advisors and assistants,” Gonzato added.

The ambassador reiterated the EU’s commitment to ongoing support.

“As Albania progresses toward EU membership, incorporating EU law into judicial decisions is vital, and we will continue our support in partnership with the ‘EU for Justice’ project,” Gonzato affirmed.

Additionally, High Court of Albania head Sokol Sadushi remarked on the importance of quickly reviewing cases, highlighting that speed without coherence can lead to legal risks.

Sadushi stated, “The quality of justice is not solely assessed by trial speed or case reduction, but primarily by the strength of reasoning, clarity, and predictability in decision-making.” (14 January)

Sounds like a grand soirée on justice, eh? Who knew that fixing Albania’s legal system required a whole conference instead of just a good old-fashioned round of “pin the tail on the judge”? 😂

Looks like the EU’s got a new hobby: teaching Albania how to play the justice game. If only they could apply the same enthusiasm to getting my taxi fare right! 😏🚖

  3. Seems like Tirana’s gotten itself a mini summit to discuss something as revolutionary as “justice.” I guess when you’re elbow-deep in red tape, you might as well throw a conference, right? 😂

  4. Nothing screams “we’re ready for EU membership” quite like a conference full of judges discussing how to avoid drowning in backlogs. 😏 Let’s just hope they don’t trip over their own legal jargon while trying to make sense of it all!

  5. Looks like they’re really rolling out the red carpet for justice over in Albania, eh? Maybe if they throw in a couple of espresso breaks, the judges will finally catch up with that pesky backlog! ☕️😏

Oh, nothing screams “let’s get serious about justice” like a high-level conference in Tirana – because clearly, that’s *exactly* what Albania needed to solve its backlog of cases. 🤷‍♂️💼 Keep up the pace, lads!

Isn’t it just charming how Albania’s justice system is taking notes from a high-level conference like it’s a quaint little book club? 📚 Just what the EU ordered – a bit of consistency with a side of bureaucracy! 😏

Looks like Tirana’s got its priorities straight—who needs pizza when you can have a high-level talk about justice? 🍕⚖️ Just what we need, another conference to remind us that justice moves at the speed of a snail on holiday!

Seems like the EU’s got a full calendar of “let’s talk about justice” while the judges are still searching for their missing gavel. Who knew bureaucracy could be this entertaining? 😂

Oh, fantastic! Just what Albania needed—another conference to discuss the wonders of justice while the judges are buried under a mountain of paperwork. At this rate, they’ll be discussing this for decades before anyone sees real change! 😂

Justice in Albania is now as trendy as a pair of mismatched socks—important, but let’s hope it doesn’t take forever to catch on! 🧦💼

Seems like Albania’s on a real speed-dating mission with the EU, hoping to charm the judges and impress the bureaucrats. 🤔 Who knew justice could come with a side of EU bureaucracy?

Oh, fantastic! Because nothing screams “EU accession” like a conference where legal jargon flows as freely as the coffee, right? ☕️ Let’s just hope those judges don’t take as long to decide as the conference took to organize! 😂

Seems like Albania’s justice system is getting a makeover, but let’s hope it’s not like one of those DIY projects that ends up with more drama than a Balkan soap opera. 🎭✌️

Justice in Albania? Just what we needed—another conference to remind us that speed and clarity aren’t exactly on speaking terms here. 🤷‍♂️ If only they could find a judge who can multitask!

Oh sure, because nothing says “we’re ready for the EU” quite like a high-level conference discussing how to make justice less of a circus act in Albania. 🙄 Let’s just hope the judges can juggle those backlogs without dropping the ball! 🎪

Oh great, another high-level chat about justice in Albania—because clearly, nothing says “EU accession” like a room full of judges and diplomats sipping coffee and discussing backlogs. ⚖️☕️ If only they could speed up the process like they speed through their pastries! 🍰

  18. Oh, brilliant! A high-level conference in Tirana to solve Albania’s justice issues—because nothing screams “effective action” quite like a bunch of suits gathering to discuss the obvious, right? 🥳

Seems like Tirana’s hosting a real shindig on justice—because what better way to look serious about reform than a conference where everyone nods sagely while the backlog just sits there like a bad house guest? 🍷✨

So, we’re having a big chat about justice in Albania, eh? Seems like the judges are as busy as a taxi driver in rush hour, but hey, at least they’ve got the EU watching their backs! 😂🚖
