
Chișinău – In her address, Sandu highlighted the challenges posed by the increasing hybrid threats in both regional and international contexts, as reported by the Information and Media Communication Directorate of the Office of the President of the Republic of Moldova.
The president asserted that in the current geopolitical landscape, the only viable strategy for the Republic of Moldova to thrive as a democratic, free, and sovereign state is to pursue EU membership.
Additionally, Maia Sandu stressed the importance of enhancing political dialogue, strategic communication, and actively promoting Moldova’s interests and image within the European Union member states.
She specifically emphasized the importance of relations with neighboring countries, reaffirming that Romania is Moldova’s primary strategic partner and a key supporter of its European trajectory, energy security, economic progress, and connectivity with the EU. The Moldovan leader also reiterated unwavering support for Ukraine, noting that Ukraine’s resilience is vital for the security of Moldova.
Efforts to strengthen partnerships will also extend to the broader neighborhood, particularly with Western Balkan countries that share Moldova’s aspiration for EU membership. (22.12.2025)
