Sweden’s Triumph in the EU: Calls for Improved Abortion Care

Brussels – The EU Parliament has passed a resolution advocating for safe and legal abortion access for all.

The Parliament urges the EU Commission to establish a voluntary system, supported financially by the EU, to ensure that everyone can obtain safe and legal abortion services, irrespective of individual member states’ laws on the matter.

This non-binding resolution, stemming from the citizens’ initiative My Voice, My Choice, received 358 votes in favor, 202 against, and 79 abstentions.

The resolution was championed by Swedish MEP Abir al-Sahlani of the Centre Party.

In a press release from the EU Parliament, al-Sahlani stated, “This is a significant victory for all women in Europe. The EU has finally affirmed that sexual and reproductive health care is a fundamental human right.”

The EU Commission is expected to outline its intended actions by early March.

Looks like Sweden’s leading the charge on abortion rights while some of us are still trying to figure out how to properly pronounce “Brussels” 🤔. Guess it’s time for the rest of Europe to catch up or just keep playing musical chairs with our rights! 🎶🪑

  2. Looks like the EU’s finally decided to play doctor, eh? Who knew all it took was a few votes to make reproductive rights as easy as ordering a pint in the pub? 🍻

Oh, look at that, the EU finally doing something ‘groundbreaking’ – how brave of them! Next, they’ll be telling us that water is wet. 😏

Oh, brilliant! Just what we needed—more paperwork to wade through while trying to save the world one “choice” at a time. Who knew Brussels was running a charity for everyone’s personal dilemmas? 🤷‍♂️

Blimey, who knew that resolving basic healthcare issues could actually pass through the EU Parliament without someone throwing a fit? Maybe next they’ll tackle the pressing matter of whether we should all wear socks with sandals. 🤷‍♂️

Just what we needed, more bureaucratic red tape in the name of “rights.” Who knew the EU was moonlighting as a midwife? 😂

  7. Just what we needed, another “triumph” to remind us how the EU can’t help but meddle in member states’ affairs—because who wouldn’t want Brussels deciding their healthcare? 🤷‍♂️ Classic!

So, the EU’s finally found time to tackle something other than boring trade agreements, eh? Bravo, folks! Just what we needed—more bureaucracy on a topic that’s about as clear-cut as a Swedish winter day! 😏
