France and Slovakia face common challenges in the automotive industry and nuclear energy in the EU
Blanár stated that both nations must confront several common challenges within the EU, particularly in the automotive sector. He mentioned that Stellantis, a French investment in Slovakia, is dealing with similar issues as other automotive manufacturers. “Slovakia is addressing these challenges at the EU level and advocating for our interests simultaneously,” Blanár added.
He also noted that Slovakia is the second largest producer of electricity from nuclear power plants after France. Blanár emphasized the opportunities for both countries to share knowledge and build on past cooperation to further advance in economic, investment, EU, and North Atlantic Alliance activities, as well as in education.
The ministers also discussed other foreign policy topics, including energy, the EU’s declining competitiveness, and the new European budget.
In Paris, Blanár also met with Alexis Dutertre, where they talked about European issues, the war in Ukraine, including the peace initiative by American President Donald Trump, energy, transatlantic relations, and defense and security matters. (October 29)
