France Arrests Suspects in Daring Louvre Jewel Heist

“One of the men arrested was attempting to depart from Roissy airport,” she mentioned, referring to Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport in Roissy-en-France. “It is too early to provide any further details,” Beccuau stated.

French media outlets, including Paris Match and Le Parisien, reported that two suspects, both around 30 years old, were detained, with one apprehended while trying to board a flight to Algeria from Charles de Gaulle airport.

Media reports suggest the suspects are believed to be part of a gang of four thieves who broke into the Louvre last Sunday and stole jewelry from the Galerie d’Apollon. The daring daylight burglary has led to increased public pressure to catch the perpetrators.

Beccuau stated, “More than a hundred investigators have been mobilized to gather evidence and pursue the burglars.” She indicated that media coverage of the investigation might hinder the process.

“I deeply regret the premature disclosure of this information by uninformed sources, disregarding the needs of the investigation,” Beccuau expressed.

Meanwhile, some of the jewelry that was not stolen has been transferred to a vault at the French National Bank.

Victor Goury-Laffont contributed reporting.

Looks like the Louvre thieves thought they were auditioning for a heist movie, but instead, they ended up with a one-way ticket to the slammer! 😅 What a classic case of “if it’s not nailed down, it’ll go missing” in the city of lights! 🕵️‍♂️💎

So, the Louvre’s new security system is apparently “find a thief, lose a jewel.” Who knew a heist could be so… avant-garde? 😂🔍

Seems like the Louvre’s security is now on par with a Parisian café’s front door—both seem to have a knack for letting in the wrong crowd! 💼💎

Seems like the Louvre is now the hottest spot for a heist—who needs the Mona Lisa when you’ve got bling to swipe? 😂 Just another day in Paris, where even the criminals have a flair for the dramatic!

Seems like they should’ve just opened a souvenir shop instead—stealing from the Louvre? Talk about a bold career choice! 😂💼✈️

Typical French efficiency, n’est-ce pas? They catch one thief at the airport while the others are probably sipping espresso and plotting the next heist—parfait! 😂

Seems like the Louvre has become the new hotspot for aspiring jewel thieves—who knew stealing from a museum could be a career move? 😂 Next time, lads, maybe just stick to a nice café and a croissant instead of a heist, eh? 🍵💰

Well, nothing says “I love art” like a quick getaway through Roissy after a cheeky heist at the Louvre! 🍷💎 Just hope the real masterpieces don’t run away too! 😂

Oh, brilliant plan there, lads! Stealing from the Louvre and then thinking you can just hop on a flight to Algeria like it’s a weekend jaunt to Nice. 🤦‍♂️ Hope they enjoy their holiday in a nice cozy cell! 🏖️🔒

  10. Just when you thought stealing from the Louvre was a foolproof plan, some genius decides to book a one-way ticket to Algeria. Classic! 😅✈️

Just what we needed, a jewel heist at the Louvre—because nothing says “high culture” quite like a gang of thirty-somethings raiding the art capital of the world. 🎨💎 Next, they’ll be giving tours on how to blend in with the tourists!

So, let me get this straight: a couple of geniuses thought they could pull off a heist at the Louvre and then casually catch a flight to Algeria? Must’ve been inspired by a particularly riveting episode of “Criminals on Holiday” 😂✈️.

Typical French: leave it to the experts to turn a museum visit into an episode of “Mission Impossible” – next time, maybe they should just try a bit of artisanal bread instead of high-stakes jewel theft, eh? 😏💼

So, they finally caught the “artful dodgers” planning to swap the Louvre’s treasures for some sun in Algeria? Guess they misunderstood that “going for gold” doesn’t mean nicking it from a museum! 😂💼

So, let me get this straight—an art heist at the Louvre, and they thought they could just hop on a plane like they were catching a tram to the market? Classic French efficiency, eh? 😂💼

Just a typical day in Paris, where art lovers become art thieves—who knew the Louvre had such a robust side hustling scene? 😂 You’d think they’d at least pack their bags for a more exotic escape than Algeria!

Just what we needed, a heist straight out of a bad French film—jewels missing and suspects caught at the airport like they were late for a holiday in Algeria. 😆 Who knew the Louvre was the new hotspot for criminal escapades? ✈️💎
