European Parliament Members Approve Driving License Reform

The European Parliament in Strasbourg, France, has officially approved a driving license reform aimed at preventing drivers from evading license suspensions in foreign countries and promoting digital licenses.

The reform introduces stricter renewal procedures, higher standards for obtaining licenses, and encourages information sharing among countries to ensure that those who commit serious traffic violations abroad face consequences.

Currently, almost 40% of drivers whose licenses are revoked or suspended in a different country escape punishment, according to Italian socialist Matteo Ricci, the rapporteur for the legislation.

This new regulation sets a maximum validity of 15 years for car and motorcycle licenses, which may be reduced to 10 years in nations where the driving license functions as an identity card.

Additionally, the validity period may be further shortened for drivers aged over 65. (October 21, 2025)

  1. So, after all these years of dodging fines like a pro, they’re finally making us play by the rules? Brilliant! Next, they’ll be insisting we obey the speed limit too! 😂🚗💨

So now we’re making it difficult for the seasoned drivers to lose their licenses abroad, eh? Brilliant, just what we need—more bureaucratic hoops to jump through! 🚗💨

  3. Finally, some bureaucrats have decided that driving licenses shouldn’t be a game of hide and seek across borders. 🥳 Maybe next they’ll tackle the pressing issue of why my coffee always goes cold before I finish it! ☕️🇪🇺

So, the Eurocrats have decided that a digital license is the magic wand to stop the speed demons from dodging fines abroad? Can’t wait to see how well that plays out when your average driver can’t even figure out their GPS. 🚗💨

  5. Oh, brilliant! Just what we needed – another way to make sure our driving is as complicated as our tax returns. 🚗💨 Because nothing screams ‘efficiency’ like a 15-year deadline for a plastic card!

Finally, a brilliant move by the Eurocrats! Who knew it took a panel of experts to figure out that not everyone should be driving like a madman across borders? 😂🚗💨

Just what we needed, more bureaucratic nonsense to ensure that 40% of reckless drivers can’t just waltz into another country like it’s a holiday! 🎉 Because, you know, nothing says “progress” like a digital license that expires faster than my patience in traffic! 🚗💨

Finally, a chance for dodgy drivers to feel the heat from their escapades abroad! 🎉 Who knew we needed a whole reform just to make sure Uncle Bob can’t outrun his speeding tickets in Spain? 😂

  9. Well, isn’t that just brilliant? Finally, we can ensure that the blokes with revoked licenses can’t just waltz around Europe like they own the place. 🚗💨

Looks like the EU finally decided to crack down on those sneaky drivers who thought they could just skip out on their suspensions like it’s a holiday in Ibiza! 🚗💨 Welcome to the future, where even your driving license has a shorter lifespan than a loaf of bread! 🥖

  11. Oh great, just what we needed—more rules to remind us how to drive properly, because clearly the last few hundred years of driving experience weren’t enough! 🚗💨

Oh great, just what we needed – more rules to make sure that the guy who speeds through Rome still can’t drive in Berlin. Can’t wait for my digital license that’ll probably be as secure as a pizza delivery in Naples. 🍕🚗
