EU alarmed by reports of fatalities in Gaza

Brussels (dpa) – The European Union is expressing concern over reports of violence involving Hamas and armed clans in the Gaza Strip. “We are troubled by reports indicating multiple fatalities in Gaza due to clashes between Hamas and gang members,” stated a spokesperson for EU chief diplomat Kaja Kallas.

Additionally, there are allegations that Hamas is severely targeting those it suspects of collaborating with Israel. A ceasefire, mediated by the USA and other nations, has been in place between Hamas and Israel since Friday. However, significant issues still need addressing between the conflicting parties for a viable peace process, including the demand for Hamas’s disarmament.

The spokesperson emphasized that all parties should exercise restraint and avoid actions that could threaten the ceasefire. “The EU reaffirms that Hamas should not play any future role in the governance of the Gaza Strip.”

Deciding who governs the Gaza Strip is deemed a crucial element in determining whether stability can return to the besieged coastal area after two years of conflict. A power vacuum could lead to greater chaos or even civil war. (October 14)

  1. Incredible how the EU finds time to be ‘troubled’ by Gaza while the rest of us are just trying to get through the day without stepping in a puddle. 🤷‍♂️ Maybe they should focus on solving the existential crises at home first!

Looks like the EU is once again rolling out the red carpet for diplomacy while trying to juggle flaming torches. 🌍💼 Next time, maybe they can send a nice letter instead of just words, eh? 🤷‍♂️

  3. Looks like the EU is really flexing its muscles over in Gaza—who knew concern could be so powerful? 🤷‍♂️ Maybe next time they’ll try a sternly worded email instead of just a press release! 😂

Looks like the EU’s got its hands full again, worrying about Gaza while we’re all just trying to figure out how to fix the weather in Brussels. 🤷‍♂️ Maybe they should send a memo to Hamas about playing nice, but I suppose that’s as likely as finding a taxi in London during rush hour. 🥴

  5. Oh, fantastic! Just what we needed – another round of “let’s all be alarmed” while sipping lattes in Brussels. 🙄 If only ceasefires came with a side of actual accountability, eh?

Perfect timing, as always, from the EU—like a late train that arrives just in time to miss the big event! 🚂💨 Let’s just hope they don’t send another strongly worded letter this time, eh?
