Sint-Niklaas (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Bpost will move Beveren and Temse distribution centres to Sint-Niklaas in 2026. Spokesperson Mathieu Goedefroy says the modern Europark-Noord centre will improve efficiency and support electric vans by 2030.
As VRT News reported, Bpost will move its distribution centres from Beveren and Temse to a larger facility in Sint-Niklaas next year. Postal workers now go to Beveren and Temse to collect and sort mail for residents in Beveren, Kruibeke, and Temse.
After the move, all mail and parcel operations for these areas will be handled in Sint-Niklaas. The new centre in Europark-Noord is bigger and designed to manage higher volumes. Bpost says the current locations cannot expand parking or logistics space.
“The current buildings in Beveren and Temse are very outdated,”
explains Bpost spokesperson Mathieu Goedefroy.
“In addition, there’s very little parking for the mail trucks.”
What is Bpost’s plan for moving the Beveren and Temse Centres to Sint-Niklaas?
According to officials, the move also supports Bpost’s plan to switch to fully electric parcel delivery by 2030. Parcel numbers continue to grow each year. The Sint-Niklaas centre can provide the space and infrastructure needed for this expansion.
“We’re currently constructing a completely new building there to accommodate the arrival of postal workers from Beveren and Temse,”
Goedefroy continues.
It will be a modern building, equipped with the latest technology.”
Officials mentioned that residents of Beveren and Temse do not need to worry about Bpost’s planned relocation of its distribution centres. The move only affects the sorting and logistics operations, not the local post offices.
Bpost confirmed that a physical post office will remain open in every municipality. Customers can still go to the existing counters in Beveren and Temse. Mail delivery will not be affected. If someone is not home to receive a package, it will not be sent to Sint-Niklaas.
There are also multiple postal points and parcel vending machines where residents can pick up their parcels, just as they do now. Bpost plans to add even more collection points in the future to make parcel pick-up easier.
The sorting centre in Zwijndrecht will continue to operate as usual for the foreseeable future. The exact timing of the Beveren and Temse relocation is not yet clear, but it is expected to take place in 2026.
“However, we are constantly looking for ways to improve our services. So, it’s not out of the question that something might change there in the medium term as well,”
concludes Goedefroy.
