Dovos Defense Company to Make Initial Outreach to Firms by End of October

Ljubljana – The newly formed company focused on defense, security, and resilience, Dovos, established in September by the Slovenian Sovereign Holding, is set to release its first calls for proposals aimed at industrializing products in these sectors by the end of October. According to Damir Črnčec, assistant to the president of the SDH and chairman of Dovos’s supervisory board, Europe is facing at least a decade of investment in the defense sector, with the situation unlikely to change even if the war in Ukraine comes to an end soon.

Črnčec highlighted that the EU was unprepared for the military threat posed by the Ukraine conflict. He noted that Slovenia had a robust defense industry prior to 1991, which has since been neglected. “We believed threats were a thing of the past,” he stated. However, he believes Slovenia recognizes that the global landscape has shifted. “Without security, there is nothing,” he asserted.

In forming Dovos, Črnčec pointed out that the goal was to translate Slovenia’s defense knowledge into industrialization, which is central to the company’s mission. “Some perceive this as us pushing forward too quickly, but in reality, we are quite late,” he mentioned.

He also expressed the intention for Slovenia to initially utilize its own systems and products before promoting them in the European and NATO markets. Črnčec believes that investing in critical infrastructure and resilience is a necessary expenditure, emphasizing the importance of investing in strategic technologies alongside profit generation.
