China to Impose Provisional Anti-Dumping Duties on European Pork

Beijing – The Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced on Friday the provisional imposition of anti-dumping duties on imports of European pork, citing allegations of dumping.

A spokesperson for the European Commission responded, stating that they will take “all necessary measures to defend its producers and its industries.”

Relations between the two parties have become strained, particularly following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, as China maintains a significant partnership with Moscow.

In June 2024, Beijing initiated an anti-dumping investigation into European pork shortly after the European Union revealed its plans to impose extra tariffs on electric vehicles from China.

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce noted on Friday that the responsible authorities have preliminarily determined that imports of pork and pork products from the European Union are being dumped, asserting that the Chinese industry has experienced “significant harm.” (September 5, 2025)

  2. Oh, fantastic! Just what we needed—more tariffs! Because nothing says “international friendship” like slapping on duties over a bit of pork. 🥓💸

  3. Oh, splendid! Just what we needed—a pork trade war! Because nothing says global harmony like slapping tariffs on bacon, right? 🥓💼

So, let me get this straight: Europe can’t sell its sausages in China, but they still expect us to buy their fancy electric cars? Classic! 😂🥓

  7. Looks like pork’s the new geopolitical pawn, eh? Who knew our sausages were so threatening? 🥓😂

Looks like Europe’s finest pork is getting the cold shoulder from China—who knew our sausages could spark such international drama? 🤷‍♂️ Maybe we should start serving them with a side of diplomacy instead of sauerkraut. 🍽️

Oh, lovely, just what we needed – a pork scandal to spice up EU-China relations! 🍖💼 Next, we’ll be arguing about who has the better sausages.

  10. Oh, brilliant move, China! Nothing screams “let’s foster international friendship” quite like slapping tariffs on our beloved pork. 🐖🍻 Who knew a little ham could cause such diplomatic drama?
