Beijing – The Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced on Friday the provisional imposition of anti-dumping duties on imports of European pork, citing allegations of dumping.
A spokesperson for the European Commission responded, stating that they will take “all necessary measures to defend its producers and its industries.”
Relations between the two parties have become strained, particularly following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, as China maintains a significant partnership with Moscow.
In June 2024, Beijing initiated an anti-dumping investigation into European pork shortly after the European Union revealed its plans to impose extra tariffs on electric vehicles from China.
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce noted on Friday that the responsible authorities have preliminarily determined that imports of pork and pork products from the European Union are being dumped, asserting that the Chinese industry has experienced “significant harm.” (September 5, 2025)
