
Antwerp (Eurotoday Newspaper) – A man was seriously stabbed on Sint-Elisabethstraat in Antwerp North around 5:40 p.m. on Saturday, Aug 30, 2025. He was hospitalised. Wouter Bruyns of Antwerp Police confirmed that police are searching for the attacker.
As VRT News reported, a man was seriously injured in a stabbing on Sint-Elisabethstraat in Antwerp North on Saturday, Aug 30, 2025, around 5:40 p.m. The attack caused panic among residents and shopkeepers. A supermarket worker said they were busy inside the store when they suddenly heard a loud commotion outside.
What happened in the serious stabbing on Sint-Elisabethstraat, Antwerp North?
The victim was trying to leave a nearby parking lot when a man attacked him with a knife. He was wounded on his head and arm and bled heavily. The attacker ran away toward Dambruggestraat immediately after the stabbing.
The victim fled the scene to his brother’s business in the street nearby for assistance. Police quickly arrived on the scene to help the injured man. The authorities are opening an investigation and are in search of the suspect.
The victim of the stabbing on Sint-Elisabethstraat in Antwerp North sustained severe injuries. Wouter Bruyns, spokesperson for the Antwerp Police Zone, said,
“He immediately received first aid from one of our teams and was taken to the hospital.”
Police are looking for the attacker, and no suspects have been arrested. There is a locked safety perimeter around the scene of the crime to protect evidence and allow police to manage the public.
Forensics, including forensic lab teams, are under the supervision of the JPS, collecting evidence from the crime scene. Bruyns stated that law enforcement is using all of the available resources to help identify and ultimately apprehend the suspect.
Antwerp has seen several violent stabbings in recent months. In June, a 76-year-old man was fatally stabbed on a city bus while 2 others were injured. The attacker fled but later surrendered to the police. In May, a 32-year-old man died after being stabbed while trying to protect a woman from harassment in the Seefhoek district. Police are investigating both cases, and no links to terrorism have been found.
