Interior Minister Poklukar Shows Support for North Macedonia’s EU Integration Journey

Ohrid – On Thursday, Slovenian Interior Minister Boštjan Poklukar held a meeting with his Macedonian counterpart Panče Toškovski in Ohrid. Following their discussions, Poklukar emphasized Slovenia’s ongoing support for North Macedonia’s aspirations to join the European Union. He advocated for enhanced police collaboration between the two nations, as Slovenia aims to bolster cooperation among Western Balkan police forces in combating organized crime and terrorism while transferring EU security standards to the region.

“We had extensive discussions on this topic today, and I would like to note that we are already collaborating within NATO in various peace-support operations, and I am confident that we will continue this partnership in the European Union in the future,” Poklukar stated after the meeting, reaffirming Slovenia’s robust and lasting support for North Macedonia’s EU accession.

The ministers acknowledged that the cooperation between their countries, particularly in internal affairs, is strong. “In relation to the European Union and various agencies such as Europol and Frontex, I believe our collaboration is quite effective,” Poklukar noted.

He also backed North Macedonia’s initiative to enhance regional cooperation for the professional advancement of police officers and services, proposing Slovenia’s involvement in the regional network of training centers and police academies. “We confirm our commitment to this initiative, as international police cooperation is essential for effectively tackling crime and managing migration,” he added. 1. Just what we needed, another EU love fest. I suppose if you throw enough police cooperation around, you might just convince the folks back home that it’s more than just a meeting with a nice view of Ohrid. 😏✈️

Oh, how splendid! Nothing says “welcome to the EU” quite like a couple of ministers chatting over coffee while the rest of us are stuck in traffic listening to the news about “effective collaboration” against organized crime. 🍵🚗

Oh, how delightful! A meeting between ministers about EU integration – because that’s exactly what the Balkans were missing: more paperwork and meetings. 😂 Can’t wait to see how that ‘enhanced police collaboration’ turns out; maybe they’ll finally catch the criminals who keep disappearing into all that bureaucracy!

Oh, look at that, another meeting to discuss how to hold hands and sing Kumbaya while pretending that EU entry is just around the corner. Maybe if we throw in a few more training sessions, they’ll magically unlock the secret door to Brussels! 😂✈️

Oh, how charming! A meeting in Ohrid where they ‘discuss’ EU integration like it’s a friendly game of chess—too bad the pieces are all stuck in the Balkans. 🤷‍♂️

Looks like Slovenia’s got North Macedonia’s back—because who wouldn’t want to join the EU club while tackling crime with a side of police training? 🤷‍♂️ Just what we need, more meetings and more paperwork! 😂

  15. Oh, how lovely! Another EU cheerleader in action, while the rest of us are just trying to figure out if we can afford a cup of coffee without taking out a loan. 🙄 At this rate, I might just apply for a job as a professional EU integration supporter—sounds like a cushy gig!

Oh, how lovely! A Slovenian minister showering North Macedonia with EU dreams while the real magic happens in the back alleys of organized crime. But hey, at least they’ll have some stylish new police uniforms while they’re at it! 😂✨
