An accident occurred on Monday around 4:30 PM on Bergensesteenweg. CCTV footage showed an 82-year-old man driving at high speed from Bevrijdingsplein. As he approached the intersection with Louis Theunckensstraat, he failed to slow down, lost control, and struck several posts along the roadside. The car continued and crashed into a building. In addition to the damage to the building, two parked vehicles nearby were also significantly damaged.

The 82-year-old driver involved in the accident tested negative for alcohol, he wasn’t drunk. He had two passengers; one went to the hospital for a check-up, while the other was fine. Although CCTV showed the car speeding before the crash, the exact cause is unknown. Investigators are looking into whether a medical issue, a car problem, or driver error led to the accident. The Zennevallei police are examining all evidence to understand what happened.
