Greek authorities are implementing stricter road regulations with unprecedented penalties for violators. Running a red light can result in a fine of up to 2,000 euros and a one-year license suspension. Particularly harsh are the penalties for using a mobile phone while driving, with a first offense carrying a fine of 350 euros and a third offense amounting to 2,000 euros and a year without a license. If phone use causes a traffic accident, the fine increases to 4,000 euros, and the license can be revoked for up to eight years.

The first offense costs 350 euros, and each subsequent violation doubles the fine. The government aims to reduce road fatalities with these new measures.
