China Expands Investigation into European Dairy Products

Paris (France) – The investigations are set to be prolonged by six months, extending until February 21, 2026, due to the “complexity of the case,” as stated by the Chinese Minister of Commerce in an online announcement made on Monday.

Beijing initiated this investigation into the imports of specific European cheeses, milk, and cream in August 2024, prompted by the EU’s decision to impose significant tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles.

The Twenty-Seven claimed that Beijing was distorting competition through substantial subsidies to its manufacturers, enabling them to set lower prices. Consequently, European tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, reaching up to 35%, were implemented in October 2024.

Seems like the only thing aging faster than our fine cheeses is this investigation – six more months of cheese drama! 🧀 Who knew tariffs could turn a dairy case into a soap opera? 😂

Oh, brilliant move, China! Investigating our dairy while we’re busy trying to figure out who to charge for the overpriced cheese on our baguettes. 🍷🧀 Let’s see how long it takes until they start questioning the quality of our milk! 😂

So, we’re just going to keep milking this investigation until 2026, are we? Classic tit-for-tat, but hey, at least the cheese will have aged nicely by then! 🧀😏

Seems like the only thing cheesier than European dairy is the excuse for this six-month investigation. 🧀🙄 Maybe they should just call it a “cultural exchange” and be done with it!
