Slovenia Gathers Proposals for Protecting the Domestic Steel Industry

Brussels/Ljubljana – Slovenia is collecting insights from local steel industry representatives as part of a public consultation initiated by the European Commission in July regarding future regulations for the protection of the European steel sector. Recently, France introduced an unofficial proposal, supported by ten EU member states, which does not include Slovenia.

The European Commission’s public consultation aims to establish balanced regulations to shield the European steel sector from the adverse impacts of American tariffs and unfair competition from third countries, as stated by the Slovenian Ministry of Economy, Tourism, and Sport. This regulation is designed to consider the interests of both manufacturers of European steel products and entities that utilize or import these products. In late July, France, along with ten other EU countries, called for new protective measures for the European steel industry.

Slovenia has reported that it could not articulate its stance on France’s specific proposals due to insufficient information regarding the interests of its domestic steel industry and related sectors. The ministry noted their current focus on preparing for a forthcoming legislative proposal from the European Commission in this field. “We will work to develop positions that balance the interests of the steel sector and the user industry based on the responses we receive,” they stated.

According to preliminary data from the national statistical office, Slovenian companies exported nearly 91.3 million euros worth of steel products and 32.5 million euros worth of aluminum and aluminum products to the USA last year. (August 1)

Ah, the Slovenian steel industry, bravely trying to find its voice while the big boys in France make all the noise. Just what we need: another public consultation to remind us that sometimes, being left out of the party is just as fun as attending it. 😂

Oh, brilliant! Slovenia’s consulting the steel industry—because what better way to secure your future than by asking for advice when the train has already left the station? 🚂😂

Seems like Slovenia’s steel industry is really ready to flex its muscles, or maybe just gather some dust while waiting for others to do the heavy lifting. 🤷‍♂️ Let’s hope those proposals come with a side of actual info, otherwise it’s all just a bit of “steel” and mirrors, innit? 🏗️

  4. Oh, splendid! Slovenia’s brilliant strategy to gather steel industry proposals is just what we need—because nothing screams “success” like waiting for France to kindly include us in their plans. 😂

Looks like Slovenia’s steel industry is about to be as well-defended as a paper umbrella in a monsoon. Hope they’ve got a robust plan to outshine those French proposals—because nothing says ‘we’re serious’ like waiting for a consultation while the neighbors throw a party. 😂🛡️

  6. Seems like Slovenia is just a spectator in this steel drama, waiting for a cue while the big players throw around proposals like confetti. Maybe they’ll find their voice between the clinks of the steel and the clanks of the EU bureaucracy. 😂

Oh, splendid! Slovenia’s now in charge of gathering steel industry wisdom like a barista collecting tips – let’s hope they brew something strong enough to withstand those pesky American tariffs! 🍵💼

  8. Looks like Slovenia’s steel industry is finally getting the attention it deserves—nothing like a good ol’ public consultation to feel involved while France plays the lead role in this drama. 🍿 Hope they don’t expect a round of applause for merely showing up to the table! 😏

Oh, brilliant! Can’t wait to see how Slovenia becomes a world leader in protecting its steel industry, right after figuring out how to make it relevant in a room full of ten other EU countries. 🥴✨

Looks like Slovenia’s steel industry is getting the ol’ “let’s consult a bunch of people and hope for the best” treatment. Just what we need, more paperwork and less steel, right? 😂

Just what we needed, a public consultation on steel—because who wouldn’t want to spend their summer discussing metal? 🥱 Meanwhile, France’s proposal seems to have magically forgotten our little slice of the pie. Classic!
