De Pinte Man, 58, Arrested in Domestic Violence Case

De Pinte (Eurotoday) – A 58-year-old father from De Pinte has been arrested and placed under electronic monitoring by the judge in an ongoing domestic violence investigation.

His 33-year-old son is still in serious condition after being hurt in the event. The office of the public prosecutor declared that the suspect was not permitted to leave his residence.

The investigating judge has discharged the 58-year-old De Pinte man who is suspected of trying to kill his son while wearing an ankle monitor.

The Belgium Public Prosecutor’s Office for East Flanders reported this. The event happened at De Pinte on Tuesday morning. The incident’s exact nature is still unknown. It is being classified as a domestic violence incident by the East Flanders Public Prosecutor’s Office.

In critical condition, the 33-year-old son was brought to the hospital. On Wednesday, he was in the same state. For attempted murder, his 58-year-old father was taken into custody and showed up before the investigating magistrate on Wednesday afternoon.

The judge ruled that he will be released under electronic surveillance. The man is not permitted to leave his house, but he will be released with an ankle monitor.

Are there additional legal protections or support services provided to the victim during this monitoring period?

Victims can benefit from short-term barring orders that remove the perpetrator from the home and prohibit contact. Civil protection orders such as restraining orders are also available to keep perpetrators away from victims during the investigation and trial stages.

Belgium has 23 women’s shelters across regions offering safe accommodation, support, and protection for women and children victims of violence. These shelters provide a secure place to stay away from abusers.

Regional free helplines such as 1712 (Flemish region) and Ecoute Violences Conjugales (French region, 0800 30 030) offer confidential advice, emotional support, and guidance to victims. Psychological and legal counseling services are provided by specialized centers.

In De Pinte, it seems being fitted with an ankle monitor is the new trend for family bonding—who needs a therapist when you can have a judge keeping an eye on your dad’s “quality time”? 🤦‍♂️ #FamilyGoals

Looks like someone’s really nailed the art of family bonding… from behind an ankle monitor, no less! 🤦‍♂️ Guess the old man thought it was time for some “quality time” with his son – just not the kind that ends well, eh?

Just what we need, another family drama worthy of a soap opera—who knew ankle monitors came with a side of attempted murder? 🥴 It’s like reality TV, but without the glamour… and a lot more paperwork!

Just what we needed, another family drama straight out of a soap opera—only this time, the ankle monitor is the latest fashion statement. 🤦‍♂️ I suppose “staycation” takes on a whole new meaning in De Pinte!
