Zelenskyy: Ukrainian Protests Triggered Reversal on Anti-Corruption Bill

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine (SAP) expressed support for Zelenskyy’s new bill submitted on Thursday, which aims to restore their independence.

“A bill has been drafted with the fundamental principles of anti-corruption agencies’ independence. It includes new measures to protect against Russian influence, particularly in cases related to some NABU representatives,” stated Zelenskyy.

Zelenskyy noted that the bill not only restores SAP’s independence from the politically appointed general prosecutor but also introduces polygraph testing for anti-corruption and law enforcement agency employees, such as the National Police and the State Bureau of Investigations, who have relatives in Russia. NABU acknowledged that polygraph testing is already in use.

The president acted promptly to address protests that, according to Ukrainian spy agencies, could be exploited by Russia to destabilize Ukraine internally.

“The main challenge is the war. The most crucial aspect in this war is our state’s unity. It’s vital not to lose that unity, to listen to the people, engage in dialogue, and more,” Zelenskyy stated.

“Anti-corruption agencies must be genuinely independent. They need to satisfy society’s call for justice, operate effectively, and monitor internal affairs,” Zelenskyy added.

Seems like Zelenskyy’s on a real mission—who knew a little public outcry could whip up such a fancy new bill? 🎩 Next, we might see ‘Protests 101’ as a course in political strategy! 😂

So, Zelenskyy finally remembered that independence isn’t just for a country, eh? 🧐 Maybe next he’ll start drafting a bill for a cure for bureaucracy too! 😂

  3. Looks like Zelenskyy’s found the magic recipe for independence—just toss in a sprinkle of protests and a dash of polygraphs! Can’t wait to see how long this “new” bill lasts before someone trips over a Russian influence while fixing their ties. 😂

Oh, fabulous! Just what we needed – another bill to stop corruption while juggling a war and Russian spies. Can’t wait to see if this one sticks, or if it’ll just be another paper tiger in Kyiv! 😂

So, let me get this straight: a bill to fix what everyone already knew was broken, and just in time for a protest? Brilliant timing, really—makes me wonder if someone finally found their calendar! 😂

Looks like Zelenskyy’s found a way to turn protests into a new fashion statement for anti-corruption – who knew political theatre could be so on-trend? 😂 But hey, as long as they throw in a polygraph test or two, I’m sure the folks will feel right as rain! 🧐

Oh sure, nothing says “trustworthy government” like a last-minute anti-corruption bill prompted by a few protests. I mean, who needs genuine reform when you can just throw in some polygraphs and call it a day? 😂🎭

Just what Ukraine needed, another bill to “restore independence”—because nothing says freedom like a polygraph test, right? 😂 But hey, at least it’ll keep the relatives in Russia on their toes!

  10. Looks like Zelenskyy’s finally got the memo – who knew a little protest could spark such a legislative glow-up? 😂 Next thing you know, they’ll be handing out free polygraphs at the coffee shop! ☕️

Sure, nothing like a bit of public outcry to whip up a shiny new anti-corruption bill, eh? Just what Ukraine needs – more paperwork and a polygraph test to ensure the state’s finest aren’t also having tea with Uncle Vlad. 😂

Seems like Zelenskyy’s finally discovered the magic trick of making anti-corruption agencies independent – must’ve taken a few protests and a pinch of pressure to pull that rabbit out of the hat! 🐇✨ Just what we need, more bills that look good on paper while we’re still waiting for results in real life, eh? 😂
