Britain’s Conservatives are the official opposition party in the U.K.’s House of Commons, while Davey’s Liberal Democrats are the third-largest party after securing 72 seats in last year’s general election.
Farage’s Reform UK currently holds four MPs after one resigned over conduct issues. The party leads national polls, and Britain’s Labour government sees them as key opponents for the next election, expected by 2029.
“This is an outrageous and deliberate snub,” said Farage’s deputy Tice in a statement on Monday.
“Reform is polling higher than all other parties, and denying Nigel a meeting with Macron shows the Establishment ignoring the momentum of the Reform movement,” Tice continued.
He linked this to debates on migrant crossings of the English Channel. “If Macron was confident in handling the small boats issue, he would meet Nigel,” Tice added.
Macron will visit the U.K. for a three-day trip as relations between London and Paris improve post-Brexit.
