Charleroi (Eurotoday) – On June 25, 2025, all flights at Charleroi and Brussels Airport are cancelled due to a national strike by major unions (ABVV, ACV, ACLVB) protesting De Wever government reforms.
As VRT News reported, on June 25th, 2025, Brussels South Charleroi Airport will close all flights. This is because of a strike happening across Belgium. The airport said all flights will be cancelled because there won’t be enough workers to keep things safe. Workers like security and baggage handlers will be on strike.
They mentioned that the airport can’t handle passengers. The airport has to stop all activities for the day. These strikes are usually organised by unions. They often want better working conditions, higher pay, or to protest changes to laws about jobs or government services.
What disruptions will the June 25 Belgium strike cause?
According to officials, passengers with flights from Charleroi on June 25th, 2025, should avoid blank”>the airport. Airlines will contact affected travellers to arrange alternative flights or refunds. Updates on bookings can be found via email, airline apps, or the airline’s website.
The airport has also apologised for the disruption and claimed that they had to prioritise passenger safety because there simply were not enough employees available. Travellers for any upcoming flights should continue to check for possible disruptions associated with ongoing union activity.
Major trade unions in Belgium are also striking against the policies of the Flemish De Wever government. Unions, including ABVV/FGTB, ACV/CSC, and ACLVB/CGSLB, opposing reforms, feel that workers’ rights and social protections are affected.
They are against pension changes, public service cuts, and labour market measures. They mentioned that this is a big deal because even the liberal union is joining. The strike will involve protests to disrupt public transport, education and other sectors, which will cause mass problems across the country.
