Automobile: French Ministry of Industry Stresses the Need to ‘Maintain’ Course for 2035

Paris – The Ministry of Industry stated to AFP on Friday that “easing” measures could be considered for the prohibition of new thermal vehicles by 2035, as long as they do not undermine the transition away from fossil fuels, which must remain the guiding principle.

Minister Marc Ferracci expressed his willingness on Wednesday to consider “easing” in this area, while maintaining the 2035 decarbonization target during a session with a parliamentary inquiry committee.

The ministry emphasized, “It is essential to keep this target of 2035 for vehicle decarbonization.” By that year, new vehicles are required to have zero CO2 emissions, effectively banning petrol and diesel models, including hybrids.

Several EU member states are looking to utilize the 2026 review clause to implement the principle of “technological neutrality,” allowing various technical solutions to coexist.

For instance, Italy supports permitting the sale of new vehicles powered by biofuels derived from biomass. (June 13, 2025)

So, France is going to ‘ease’ into 2035 while pretending it’s on the fast track to decarbonization—classic! 🚗💨 Maybe they’ll invent a time machine to get there quicker, who knows? 😂

Oh, brilliant! Just what we needed – a masterclass in procrastination from the French Ministry. 🚗💨 Let’s simply ‘ease’ into a future where we can still enjoy our petrol-fueled vintage cars while pretending to care about the planet! 😂

Looks like the French are on a charming little waltz with their 2035 goals—who knew saving the planet came with a side of “let’s ease up a bit”? Classic bureaucratic ballet: two steps forward, one step back. 💃🚗

So, the French Ministry is keen on “maintaining” course for 2035 while considering a cheeky little “easing” here and there—bravo! 😏 Just what we need, more red tape wrapped in a lovely tricolor bow! 🚗💨

Looks like the French are finally getting around to discussing ‘easing’ their grip on thermal vehicles—who knew being green could be so… flexible? 😂 But hey, as long as we keep saying “2025” and “zero emissions,” I guess we’re all winners here, right?

Oh, joy! Just what we need, a 2035 deadline with a side of “let’s maybe think about it.” Because nothing says progress like a vague promise wrapped in bureaucratic mumbo jumbo. 🚗💨

When the French Ministry talks about “easing” bans, you have to wonder if they think we’re all driving around in baguettes powered by dreams. 🚗🥖 Zero emissions by 2035? Brilliant, as if we weren’t already living in a sci-fi novel!

Of course, let’s just keep pushing that 2035 deadline like it’s a game of boules—who needs a concrete plan when we can just ‘ease’ our way into the future? 🤷‍♂️🔧

Looks like the French are playing a delightful game of “let’s pretend” with their 2035 plans. Easing measures? Sure, why not throw a little petrol on the decarbonization fire while we’re at it! 😂

Seems like the French Ministry is pulling a classic “let’s keep our feet in both camps” dance—who needs commitment when you can just tiptoe around the issue? 😂🏎️

So, we’re really going to maintain a course to 2035 while tiptoeing around the idea of easing up on the rules? Classic French strategy: let’s keep the target while we all happily drive our petrol-fueled baguette mobiles for a bit longer. 🚗💨
