House Engulfed in Major Maasmechelen Fire

Tienen (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – A severe fire broke out on Prinses Paolalaan in Maasmechelen, rendering the house uninhabitable. A woman and her two children escaped just in time.

The Belang van Limburg reported this, and the fire department verified the information.

The resident was unharmed after she and her two kids managed to get outdoors in time. However, the house has been deemed unusable due to the considerable damage.

The fire blank”>broke out this afternoon around 16:15.

“The flames started in the garage. There is a lot of damage on the ground floor. The upper floor was spared, but there is also smoke and soot damage there,”

reports Fire Zone East Limburg, Belgium. The cause of the fire is not yet clear.

A mom and her two kids were among the three people inside the building when the fire started. They were all uninjured and left on their own.

The fire department has ruled the residence unusable, so the family will need to find another place to stay for the time being.

“It is too dangerous to stay there,”

they say.

How did the fire brigade manage to contain the Maasmechelen house fire?

By arriving on the scene quickly and carrying out exhaustive extinguishing procedures, the fire department was able to confine the house fire in Maasmechelen. Similar large-scale fire reactions in Maasmechelen, like the significant heathland wildfire in the nearby Hoge Kempen National Park, required coordinated efforts, despite the lack of particular details regarding the home fire itself.

About 70 firefighters from several stations and several fire engines were sent in to combat the fire.

Use helicopters and drones for airborne surveillance and inspection in order to determine the hotspots and extent of the fire.

Ongoing extinguishing operations on the scene and careful observation by law enforcement, firemen, ambulances, and environmental organizations.

Can’t say I’ve seen a fire quite like that since my last trip to a Belgian bakery—everyone gets out just in time, but the damage is just as deliciously tragic. 🤷‍♂️🔥
