Slovak President Urges Government to Strengthen Ties with EU and NATO Partners in National State Report

Bratislava – On Wednesday, Peter Pellegrini, President of the Slovak Republic, urged the government to maintain close ties with EU partners and NATO allies in its global foreign policy initiatives. He made this statement during his address to the National Council of the Slovak Republic regarding the state of the nation, as reported by TASR.

The president highlighted the significance of the West for Slovak interests, asserting that it should remain a pivotal focus of the country’s foreign policy. He noted the substantial investments that Slovakia receives from the EU.

Pellegrini referenced a declaration made by the three highest constitutional officials concerning Slovak foreign policy, which affirmed Slovakia’s commitment to a sovereign foreign policy that is open to global engagement—an outlook he fully endorses.

“I must remind everyone that one of the four corners of the world remains the West, and it cannot be excluded from our foreign policy,” the president declared. He stressed that the West is not merely one of the four global regions but the most critical one for Slovakia.

Pellegrini pointed out that 89 percent of all foreign investments in Slovakia originate from the European Union, while 78 percent of Slovak exports are directed towards EU member states.

“The European Union serves as our economic, foreign policy, value-based, and increasingly security space, which we cannot forsake,” Pellegrini asserted. He added that the three constitutional officials have pledged to uphold Slovakia’s “undeniable” membership in the EU and NATO, as well as to support the country’s sovereign foreign policy stance, particularly regarding the enhancement of relations between EU member states and the North Atlantic Alliance. “The European Union is our economic, foreign policy, value-based, and increasingly also security space, which we must not abandon under any circumstances.” Peter Pellegrini.

Seems like the president’s got a real handle on things—who knew cozying up to the West was our best-kept secret? 🙄 With all that EU cash flowing in, maybe we should just start calling Slovakia “Little Brussels.” 😂🇸🇰

Oh brilliant, more talk about cozying up to the EU and NATO—because what’s better than being part of a club that charges you to join? 🇪🇺💸

Oh sure, because cozying up to the EU and NATO is *definitely* what will save us from the boiling pot of global politics. Just what we needed, a reminder that the West is the “most critical” corner—who knew?! 😂

  4. Looks like Slovakia’s playing the old “let’s be besties with the West” game again. I mean, who needs a sovereign foreign policy when you can just keep cozying up to your EU and NATO pals, right? 🙄🇸🇰

Looks like Slovakia is really putting its eggs in the EU and NATO basket—who knew being tied to the West could be so fashionable? 🤷‍♂️ Just wait till they start wearing matching suits with Brussels! 🕴️

Right, because nothing says “sovereignty” like a good ol’ love affair with Brussels and NATO, eh? 🤔 Just what we need – more bureaucratic romance to spice up our foreign policy! 💼

Oh, fantastic! I suppose the West is just thrilled to know that Slovakia is still playing nice with the cool kids at the EU and NATO. 🤷‍♂️ Just what we needed, another reminder that we’re not wandering off to join the circus just yet! 🎪
