Bratislava – Slovakia is set to receive its fifth payment from the Recovery and Resilience Plan, totaling nearly 600 million euros, with complete confidence from Brussels. Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) announced this after the government meeting on Wednesday, as reported by TASR.
The government meeting focused on the progress towards the goals and milestones of the resilience plan. The Prime Minister emphasized Slovakia’s intention to revise the recovery plan.
“I would particularly like to commend the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Environment for their constructive approach in reallocating unutilized resources from his department to other sectors for valid reasons,” Fico said, acknowledging Minister Tomáš Taraba’s efforts.
He noted that this reallocation contributes to the certainty that Slovakia will receive the fifth payment, while also gearing up for the sixth payment, which is anticipated to exceed one billion euros.
“Based on assessments provided by the State Secretary and relevant ministers, Slovakia is expected to successfully secure the sixth payment as well,” Fico added.
On April 8, Deputy Prime Minister for the Recovery and Resilience Plan and Knowledge Economy, Peter Kmec (Hlas-SD), confirmed following meetings in Brussels with Céline Gauer, Director General of the Recovery Plan section at the European Commission, that Slovakia’s fifth payment request amounting to 570.4 million euros was approved. He also stated that the European Commission is likely to approve the sixth and seventh payments of Slovakia’s recovery plan this year, with approximately one billion euros anticipated in June and 550 million euros in October.
