Prime Minister Fico Outlines Slovak Foreign Policy Principles to EU Ambassadors

Bratislava – On Monday, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) convened with ambassadors from European Union countries. During the meeting, he articulated Slovakia’s commitment to a sovereign foreign policy that considers various global interests. Fico also reviewed the recent European Council meeting and discussed Slovakia’s stance on the EU extraordinary summit held on March 20, as reported by TASR.

In his address to the diplomats, Fico stressed the importance of gas transit through Ukraine for Europe’s competitiveness, asserting Slovakia’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to reinstate this transit.

“Slovakia will not engage in any military missions in Ukraine and will not allocate funds for military aid to Ukraine; however, I support organizing another joint meeting between the Slovak and Ukrainian governments to discuss mutually beneficial projects,” the Prime Minister clarified. He also affirmed that Slovakia will not endorse any EU sanctions against Hungary for its independent positions.

Additionally, Fico mentioned his commitment to preventing early elections in Slovakia while working towards stabilizing the government coalition following the dissolution of the parliamentary groups of Hlas-SD and SNS.

He expressed gratitude to the ambassadors for their open dialogue and their acknowledgment of Slovakia’s sovereign foreign policy. (March 17)

“Slovakia will not participate in any military mission in Ukraine and will not spend a cent on military assistance to Ukraine; at the same time, I am in favor of holding another joint meeting of the Slovak and Ukrainian governments focused on mutually beneficial projects.” Robert Fico

Ah, the Prime Minister’s foreign policy sounds like a masterclass in diplomacy—minus the actual action, of course. 🙄 Just what we need, more meetings and no budget for helping our neighbors while keeping our hands clean! Classic Fico. 😂

Oh, fabulous! Nothing screams “sovereignty” like a foreign policy that’s basically a polite nod while our neighbors are at the party without us. 🍷 Let’s just keep discussing all those “mutually beneficial projects” over a nice cup of tea, shall we? ☕️😏

Seems like Fico’s taken a masterclass in diplomacy—”We’ll chat about mutually beneficial projects while steering clear of any actual commitment.” 🤷‍♂️ Classic Slovak charm, am I right? 🍷

Oh, how delightful! Slovakia’s sovereign policy sounds suspiciously like a fancy way of saying “We’re not getting involved, but let’s chat about it over coffee.” ☕️ At least the ambassadors got a front-row seat to the diplomatic circus! 🎪
