Sarajevo, (Fena) – An online platform named “Access to Information” was officially launched in Sarajevo. This innovative tool enables users to create requests for free access to information from all institutions across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Accessible at pristupinformacijama.ba, the platform offers an automated and user-friendly process for generating requests. It also allows citizens, media representatives, and civil society organizations to draft and send urgent inquiries and appeals, as well as receive deadline reminders throughout the information retrieval process.
“The purpose of this tool, developed with support from the European Union, is to enhance access to information, thereby improving the transparency of public authorities and increasing citizen engagement in institutional activities. This is a fundamental requirement for democracy, openness, and accountability of institutions,” stated Aurelie Valtat, Head of the Department for EU Integration, Political Affairs, Press, and Information at the EU Delegation in BiH, as reported by Transparency International BiH.
Access to Information features a straightforward and intuitive interface that guides users through each stage of the request creation process. It includes the names and addresses of thousands of public institutions, agencies, companies, and organizations across various levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina that citizens can reach out to for information.
Notably, Access to Information facilitates the drafting of requests to all public bodies in BiH, automatically selecting the relevant legal framework based on the level and jurisdiction of the institution from which the information is sought. This feature simplifies the process, especially considering there are currently three different laws governing this area in Bosnia and Herzegovina. (31.01.)
