Rubio, newly appointed to his position, received an invitation to join a meeting of EU foreign ministers but ultimately did not participate, even virtually.
His absence raised concerns among officials in Brussels, who speculated that President Donald Trump’s administration might be prioritizing relationships with individual national leaders over engaging with the European Union as a whole. This perceived approach sparked fears that it could be part of a broader strategy aimed at undermining the bloc’s unity.
Kallas, in a statement, expressed her anticipation of meeting Rubio in the near future. However, she did not specify if a date for such a meeting had been arranged.
