The Bahá’í World: Renewing Vision and Unity for a New Era

The Bahá’í World: Reviving a Historical Chronicle of Unity and Progress

A significant milestone in documenting spiritual and social evolution has been achieved with the release of the 35th volume of The Bahá’í World. This cherished publication tells the inspiring story of millions of individuals collaborating globally to elevate the spiritual and social fabric of their communities.

In a message addressed to all Bahá’í National Spiritual Assemblies, the Universal House of Justice, the governing body of the Bahá’í Faith, underscored the importance of this new volume. “…this new volume presents the growing experience of the Bahá’í community as an example of the potentialities within the human race to overcome conflict and division, to create new patterns of thought and human interaction, and to lay the foundations of a world that embodies the principle of the oneness of humankind,” they wrote.

Spanning an impressive 455 pages, the volume explores key themes such as emergent patterns of thought and action inspired by Bahá’í teachings, novel approaches to both spiritual and material education, and the development of an administrative framework promoting global unity. Featuring an array of photographs and artwork from across the globe, the publication reflects the Bahá’í belief that humanity is one interconnected family.

A Historic Legacy Rekindled

Originally launched in 1926 by Shoghi Effendi, the Guardian of the Bahá’í Faith, The Bahá’í World was conceived as a comprehensive chronicle of the Bahá’í community’s achievements and its contributions to society at large. After a hiatus in print editions, this latest volume—spanning the years 2006 to 2021—revives that historic legacy. It offers a window into a transformative period during which initiatives inspired by the teachings of Bahá’u’lláh sought to promote unity and elevate the human condition.

Documenting Growth and Innovation

The 35th volume captures a remarkable chapter in the development of the Bahá’í Faith, spotlighting countless individuals driven to serve humanity. The stories and reflections included in this publication emphasize the potential of the human spirit to overcome division and adopt new paradigms of cooperation and harmony.

Beyond chronicling the internal progress of the Bahá’í community, the volume illustrates its growing influence on wider societal movements. It highlights contributions in areas such as education, environmental stewardship, and the pursuit of justice, serving as both an inspiration and a tangible record of how Bahá’í principles are being translated into meaningful action around the world.

A Balance of Modern Innovation and Timeless Purpose

While many of the roles once fulfilled by The Bahá’í World are now carried out through digital platforms like Bahai.org, the Bahá’í World News Service, and For the Betterment of the World, this latest edition ensures that the tradition of maintaining a detailed historical record continues. By reviving the print format, key insights, developments, and ideas remain accessible for reflection and study.

The forthcoming cloth-bound edition will soon be distributed via the United States Bahá’í Distribution Service, enabling readers to dive into its rich and inspirational content.

This new volume stands as a testament to the enduring vision of the Bahá’í community to foster global unity and progress. It invites readers to reflect on humanity’s spiritual and social potential, encouraging them to contribute to the creation of a more unified and harmonious world.
