Since the Kremlin’s war on Ukraine began, Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un have strengthened their relationship. At a meeting in Beijing last September, Kim promised to do “everything we can to assist Russia.”
Zelenskyy reported overnight attacks on a Kyiv hospital and businesses, resulting in at least one injury. Vitali Klitschko, the capital’s mayor, urged residents on Monday night to seek shelter.
Moscow targeted substations in Kherson and Kharkiv, leading to power outages, according to Zelenskyy. Additional attacks occurred in the Donetsk, Dnipro, and Mykolaiv regions.
“Every step Russia takes — increasing ballistic missile production, bringing in North Korean equipment, preparing for mobilization — all of this indicates that Moscow is preparing not for peace, but for escalation,” Zelenskyy wrote.
This summer, Russia has intensified its missile attacks, prompting Zelenskyy to implore Western allies to bolster Kyiv’s air defenses and increase sanctions on companies supporting Moscow’s war. However, Europe’s military officials say the continent is running out of Patriot interceptors to counter Russian missiles.
Meanwhile, Ukraine has retaliated by targeting Russian infrastructure, including oil refineries and properties of e-commerce giant Wildberries.
Russian state media reported on Tuesday that after drone strikes, two Wildberries warehouses in the Voronezh region, a few hundred kilometers south of Moscow, caught fire, resulting in one death.
