Zelenskyy: Egypt rejects Ukrainian wheat exported by Russia

Egypt will reject Russian grain shipments from occupied Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced Friday.

“I spoke with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who informed me that Egypt will no longer accept grain exported by Russia from our temporarily occupied territories,” Zelenskyy shared on Telegram, noting that Cairo expressed interest in increasing Ukrainian grain imports.

This represents a significant shift for Egypt, the world’s largest wheat importer. Recently, Russia’s ambassador to Egypt reported that Cairo purchased over 8 million tons of Russian grain in 2025.

Zelenskyy also mentioned that he and al-Sisi discussed the Middle East conflict and its effect on global oil markets. He stated that Kyiv proposed “military-technical cooperation” to Cairo, with further talks planned.

Funny how Egypt’s just realized that taking wheat from a country under occupation might not be the best idea, innit? 😂 It’s like finally deciding to stop buying dodgy knock-offs after years of being sold fakes! 🍞💼
