Last year, the average gross salary in Greece’s private sector was 1,362.66 euros, an increase of 20 euros from 2024, with the average full-time salary rising to 1,516 euros from 1,478 euros, an increase of 38 euros, according to Ekathimerini.com.
In 2025, one-third of workers earned less than 1,000 euros gross monthly, while 60% earned up to 1,200 euros.
The recent significant increase in the minimum wage has led to shifts among workers earning up to 1,500 euros. In both 2024 and 2025, 61% of private sector workers earned between 801 and 1500 euros, but those earning between 800 and 1000 euros gross decreased by 46% in 2025 from the previous year, while employees earning between 1001 and 1500 euros rose by 54%.
Ergani system’s annual data shows that 88% of Greek enterprises are very small, with 267,245 employing one to ten workers. The number of these companies grew by 2,805 (+1.06%) in one year.
There are 304,568 enterprises with private-law employment contracts, expanding to 355,509 when including branches in different regions.
The number of employees under private-law contracts is 2,460,720, which is an increase of 70,563 people or 2.95% from 2024. Only 10 companies have 3,000-4,000 employees (up from nine in 2024), and 19 companies have more than 4,000 employees. Enterprises with over 50 employees make up 1.7% of all companies but account for 47.24% of total employment.
The largest segment, 750,113 employees (29%), work in 937 enterprises with over 250 employees. Next, 681,535 employees (26.30%) are in 35,910 enterprises with 10-49 employees, while 395,485 workers (15.26%) are in very small enterprises with up to four employees.
