Washington has not fully explored “all options” to pressure Moscow, says Kallas to AFP

Brussels – In a recent interview with AFP, Kaja Kallas, the head of European diplomacy, expressed her concerns about the lack of pressure the United States is applying on Russia to end the war. She asked, “The United States has tools at its disposal to effectively pressure Russia. Why are they not utilizing them to bring this conflict to a close?”

Kallas criticized Moscow for failing to adhere to the ceasefire, stating, “It’s evident that Russia is playing tactics, attempting to buy time, and is not genuinely seeking peace.”

Last week, U.S. President Donald Trump issued a warning, indicating that he might halt ongoing American initiatives aimed at resolving the war in Ukraine if there isn’t swift and substantial progress from both Moscow and Kiev.

The President also expressed hope for a resolution “this week” between the two nations.

Kaja Kallas suggested that Russia’s recent declaration of a 30-hour ceasefire was merely a tactic to ensure the American president doesn’t “lose patience” with the Kremlin.

She emphasized that both Kiev and its European allies are hoping for a stronger response from Washington towards Moscow. (April 22, 2025)

Seems like Kallas is waiting for the U.S. to pull a magic rabbit out of the hat while Russia’s busy playing chess on a checkers board. 🎩🐰 Maybe someone should remind them that diplomacy isn’t just a game of “who can ignore the obvious” – but what do I know, I’m just a simple taxi driver, right? 😏🚖

Oh, brilliant! Who knew diplomacy was like waiting for a bus? Just sit there and hope it shows up on time—preferably before the next winter! 🚍😏

Seems like Kallas thinks the US has a secret stash of magic wands for diplomacy—too bad they haven’t yet found the ‘Abracadabra’ button. 🤷‍♂️ Maybe they’re just waiting for Moscow to finish its tea before getting serious about peace, eh? 🍵

Oh, fantastic! Just what we need, another diplomatic game of “let’s wait and see.” Maybe Kallas thinks if we all clap our hands, the US will suddenly find that elusive toolbox of pressure options hidden somewhere in the Oval Office! 🤦‍♂️

Oh, brilliant, Kaja! Because clearly, if the U.S. just waves its magic wand a bit harder, Putin will just pack his bags and head home, right? ✈️🧳 Keep dreaming, love! 😏

Oh sure, let’s just give the Kremlin a little tap on the wrist and hope they behave—because that always works, right? 🤦‍♂️ Someone pass the vodka, we’re gonna need it for this diplomatic circus! 🍸

Looks like Kallas is just waiting for the US to unleash its secret weapon: a sternly-worded letter! 🤔 But hey, if diplomacy were a sport, we’d be in the bleachers watching the slowest game of chess in history. 🥱

Looks like Kallas is waiting for the US to whip out its “big stick” while Russia’s just perfecting its “let’s play nice” dance. 🤷‍♂️ Maybe they think diplomacy comes with a side of chips and a pint, eh? 🍻

What Occurs in the Brain During Vacation

The onset of a vacation often follows a common pattern. Initially, we vow not to check our work chat. The next day, we might “just check” for urgent matters.
