Von der Leyen Anticipates 19th Sanctions Package Against Russia by Early September

Von der Leyen emphasized the success of current measures against Russian President Vladimir Putin’s war efforts, noting that frozen Russian assets have been used to support Ukraine.

“We need to prepare the 19th package to show Russia we are serious,” she said. “We must keep limiting Russia’s capabilities.”

She mentioned that the EU will continue to target Russia’s war economy “to bring President Putin to the negotiation table.”

Von der Leyen will be among the European leaders joining Zelensky when he meets U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House on Monday.

“These are challenging times,” von der Leyen stated. “Only Ukraine can choose its own destiny, but Ukraine can always count on Europe.”

Another day, another sanctions package—let’s hope they at least give it a flashy name this time, like “Sanctions 19: The Final Countdown” 🎉. Who knew diplomacy could be so… repetitive? 😂

Oh brilliant, another round of sanctions – because the last 18 really did wonders, didn’t they? 🤦‍♂️ Just what we need, more paperwork and fewer results. Cheers to “limiting capabilities,” whatever that means! 🍷

Fancy that, another round of sanctions – because clearly the 18 others have worked like a charm! 🤔 Let’s just hope Putin gets the memo before he orders his next caviar delivery! 🐟💼
