Virginia football coach wanted on child pornography and other charges is missing

USA (Eurotoday) – Travis L. Turner, the missing head football coach at Union High School in Appalachia, Virginia, is wanted on multiple charges including possession of child pornography and using a computer to solicit a minor. Authorities have launched a manhunt following his disappearance amid an ongoing investigation.

Coach Travis Turner sought on serious charges

Travis L. Turner, 46, the head football coach at Union High School, has been reported missing since November 20, 2025, and is now wanted by Virginia State Police on 10 criminal charges. These include five counts of possession of child pornography and five counts related to soliciting a minor using a computer, according to police spokesperson Robin Lawson and multiple news sources.

Disappearance linked to active investigation

Turner’s disappearance occurred as law enforcement officers were on their way to his home in Appalachia, a small town in Virginia, for investigative purposes related to the child pornography case. Police clarified that the visit was part of an investigation rather than an initial arrest attempt, and Turner was no longer at his residence when officers arrived.

Active search and police efforts

Virginia State Police and local authorities have declared Turner a fugitive and are conducting an extensive manhunt. Search efforts include deploying rescue teams, drones, and K9 units to locate him. Authorities have urged the public to provide any information about Turner’s whereabouts via the Virginia State Police contact channels, promising anonymity for tipsters.

Turner’s team was in the middle of an undefeated season, having recently advanced in the playoffs and nearing a possible state championship run. The accusations and missing status have shocked the community and the school district, which has placed Turner on paid leave pending further investigations, according to officials from Wise County Public Schools.

Additional allegations and ongoing investigation

Authorities have noted that the investigation remains active, with potential additional charges forthcoming as they uncover further evidence. The case continues to develop, and police emphasise the seriousness of the allegations and the intensity of their search operations.
