The British government announced that European leaders are set to meet in Berlin on Monday, contrary to the initial weekend plans. Earlier reports from POLITICO indicated that the U.K.’s national security adviser, Jonathan Powell, was scheduled to engage in talks this weekend with his German and French counterparts, the U.S.’s Witkoff, and Ukrainian representatives.
The Berlin discussions aim to address the latest version of a 20-point peace plan initiated by the U.S., following Ukraine’s submission of its revised plan to Washington. The proposed plan includes the creation of a demilitarized “free economic zone” in the Donbas region, potentially hosting American business operations.
A key issue in the negotiations remains the future of eastern Ukrainian territory, which Kyiv is unwilling to relinquish following Moscow’s occupation.
