The U.S. Commerce Department confirmed the departure and named National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Director Dr. Arvind Raman as acting director while a permanent successor is selected.
Leadership Change at US AI Agency
The Commerce Department announced the resignation on Monday but did not provide a reason for Fall’s departure. The leadership change comes as the agency continues developing technical frameworks for evaluating advanced artificial intelligence systems.
CAISI, formerly known as the U.S. AI Safety Institute, works with government agencies, researchers and technology companies to establish reliable methods for assessing AI performance, security and reliability.
