Ukraine ‘Four Years of Resistance’ Films at EESC in Brussels

An event featuring documentary and feature-film screenings, expert panels, and filmmakers’ testimonies will be held at the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) in Brussels on 24–25 February 2026, uniting Ukrainian civil society and European partners to emphasize resilience and maintain focus on the ongoing war.

Titled “Four Years of Resistance”, this two-day international event will occur on 24–25 February 2026 at the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), an EU advisory body linking organized civil society. Organized by vzw Ukraine EU, it is presented as a forum for dialogue and solidarity, with cinema serving as the medium for broader discussions.

The invitation from the organizers outlines a schedule of documentary and feature-film screenings, panel discussions with researchers, experts, and civil-society members, as well as firsthand stories from directors and producers about film production.

Event Details

  • Dates: 24–25 February 2026
  • Venue: European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), Jacques Delors building, Rue Belliard/Belliardstraat 99–101, 1040 Brussels (European Quarter)
  • Format: Film screenings, panel discussions, and filmmaker testimonies

Programme Overview

The event features various “landmark films” on Ukrainian resistance, such as Cyborgs, Mariupol: Chronicle of Hell, Peaceful 21, and Small People Who Started a Big War, among others.

Day 1 includes the screening of Cyborgs with remarks from director Akhtem Seitablaiev, followed by Mariupol: Chronicle of Hell, and a panel on “achievements and losses.” Day 2 highlights a panel on “the phenomenon of Ukrainian resilience,” a book presentation by physician and veteran Yevhen Dubrovskyi, and a screening of Peaceful 21.

Significance

The timing coincides with the fourth anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022, a date increasingly recognized by European institutions and civil society. Through films and expert panels, the organizers strive to focus on civilian experiences, event documentation, and cultural work’s role in sustaining global interest.

Seems like a must-see event for anyone who loves a good dose of drama mixed with historical heartbreak. 🎬 Who knew resistance could be so… cinematic? 🍿

  2. So, a cinematic tribute to resilience in the heart of Brussels? Nothing like a couple of films to solve a war, eh? 🎬💼

  3. Show Boat Avatar

Oh, a film festival about resistance in Brussels? Just what the world needs—more cinematic reminders of our collective inability to solve problems. 🎬💼

  4. Oh joy, just what Brussels needs—another two days of heartfelt cinema and expert panels. Because who wouldn’t want to spend their time watching films about war instead of, I don’t know, solving some actual problems? 🎬🙄

Just what we needed, another film festival to remind us of four years of resistance—because nothing says “solidarity” like watching movies while sipping overpriced coffee in Brussels. 🎬☕ #CinephilesUnite

  8. Baby Spell Avatar

Fancy a film fest in a bureaucratic building? Nothing says “let’s talk resilience” quite like a panel discussion in Brussels—because who wouldn’t want to watch heart-wrenching films while surrounded by EU regulations? 🍿💼

Another day, another film festival in Brussels—because nothing screams “we’re resilient” quite like sitting in a dark room watching movies about war while sipping overpriced lattes. 🎬☕️

Looks like the Oscars are coming to Brussels, but instead of glitz and glamour, we get a hearty serving of Ukrainian resilience. 🍿 Who needs Hollywood when you’ve got documentaries about surviving a war, right?

  13. Fancy a weekend of heartwarming films about resistance, eh? Just when you thought the cinema was all about rom-coms and superheroes, here comes a blockbuster on resilience – because nothing says “European solidarity” quite like watching films in a Brussels building that sounds like a fancy pastry shop! 🍰🎬

  14. Fancy a film fest in Brussels about resilience? Just what we needed, more cinematic reminders of survival while we sip overpriced coffee and debate the weather! 🍿😏

Looks like Brussels is rolling out the red carpet for another round of cinematic therapy—because nothing says “we care” like watching films while the world’s on fire. 🎬💔 Let’s hope the popcorn is as resilient as the subject matter!

Oh, nothing says “we’re getting serious” quite like a two-day film fest in Brussels for a war that’s been dragging on longer than my last holiday. 🍿 Can’t wait to hear the expert panels on resilience—because that’s exactly what we need more of while the world sips their lattes! 😂

  18. Oh, brilliant! Nothing says “great use of time” quite like a film festival about resilience in a bureaucratic fortress like the EESC. Can’t wait to see actors reenacting history while we sip our overpriced lattes! 😏🍵

Imagine a two-day cinematic love letter to resilience, where the only thing more painful than the films is sitting through the endless panel discussions. But hey, it’s in Brussels—might as well grab a waffle while contemplating the “phenomenon of Ukrainian resilience,” right? 🍽️😂

Oh, a whole two days of films about resistance in Brussels? Just what we need—more cinematic masterpieces to remind us how well we talk about problems instead of solving them. 🎬😏
