Ali Shamkhani, a political adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, cautioned Trump to step back.
“The people of Iran are familiar with the experience of Americans intervening, from Iraq and Afghanistan to Gaza. Any attempt to interfere with Iranian security under false pretenses will be met with a regret-inducing response. Iran’s national security is a red line, not a subject for adventurist tweets,” Shamkhani wrote on X.
Since December 28, protests have erupted in several Iranian cities due to public frustration over rising living costs and resistance to the country’s clerical leadership. Local media have reported six or seven fatalities.
