Trump Team Set to Begin Russia-Ukraine Peace Talks in Saudi Arabia

Trump’s Ukraine-Russia Envoy Won’t Attend Saudi Peace Talks

Former U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy for Ukraine-Russia negotiations, retired General Keith Kellogg, will not be attending upcoming peace talks in Saudi Arabia, according to officials.

Additionally, there are no plans for representatives from other major European powers to participate in the discussions. This decision may frustrate NATO allies, who have publicly urged Trump to ensure their involvement in negotiations.

The meeting could serve as a pivotal moment in Trump’s efforts to broker a peace process and would mark the first significant gathering of Russian and Ukrainian representatives since the war began in 2022.

Republican lawmaker Mike McCaul of Texas confirmed that Representatives Mike Waltz and Jeffrey Witkoff will join Senator Marco Rubio in Saudi Arabia to initiate discussions between the two warring nations. He made the announcement during an interview at the POLITICO Pub on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

Two U.S. officials, speaking anonymously due to the sensitivity of the negotiations, verified the plans but did not disclose additional details, including the identities of the Russian and Ukrainian negotiators involved. Neither the Ukrainian government nor the U.S. State Department responded to a request for comment.

Trump also announced on Wednesday that he anticipates a direct meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Saudi Arabia. “We ultimately expect to meet,” Trump told reporters. “We’ll meet in Saudi Arabia and see if we can get something done.”

Oh, brilliant! A peace talk in Saudi Arabia with no one from Europe and a retired general who’s busy with his golf swing instead. Sounds like the perfect recipe for a diplomatic dinner party—everyone’s invited except the people who actually matter! 😂🍷

  2. Oh, marvellous! Nothing screams “peace negotiation” quite like a meeting in a desert with a side of oil and no actual participants from the key players. 🙄 I suppose the real strategy is to just nod a lot and hope for the best, innit?

Oh, perfect! Nothing says “serious diplomacy” quite like peace talks in a desert oasis with a side of camel racing. 🐪💼 Can’t wait to see how that one unfolds over a cup of overpriced coffee! ☕️

Talk about a masterclass in diplomacy—who needs European leaders when you have a retired general and a couple of Texan lawmakers? 😂 Next thing you know, they’ll be negotiating peace over a round of golf and a plate of kebabs!

Oh, brilliant! Nothing screams “serious diplomacy” quite like a bunch of folks in a desert discussing world peace while wearing flip-flops. 🌴🤷‍♂️ Maybe they’ll throw in a karaoke night to really lighten the mood!

Oh, brilliant! Nothing says “let’s solve a war” like a bunch of politicians in the Saudi sun, negotiating peace over shisha—who needs allies when you’ve got a golf buddy, right? 😂✌️
