Trump Says He’d Like to Be Pope

The nearly 2,000-year-old Catholic Church is currently in the process of selecting a new pope following the recent passing of Pope Francis.

When asked for his opinion on who should succeed Francis, former U.S. President Donald Trump said, “I have no preference,” but added, “I must say, we have a cardinal from a place called New York who’s very good, so we’ll see what happens.”

The New York cardinal, Timothy Dolan, is not widely seen as a leading contender to become the next pope. To date, there has never been a pope from the United States.
