Tragic Incident: Infant Passes Away at De Uiltjes Daycare in Tienen

Tienen (Eurotoday Newspaper): An incident at De Uiltjes daycare in Belgium resulted in a baby’s death after emergency services were called around 2 PM. The Leuven prosecutor’s office is investigating, with an autopsy scheduled for 17 January.

An incident happened this afternoon, on January 16, 2025, at the De Uiltjes daycare center in Belgium. Around 2 p.m., the daycare called emergency services about a serious medical issue with a baby. Emergency responders quickly arrived and started to try to save the child. 

They worked hard to stabilize the baby, but the situation was very serious. The baby was taken to a hospital in Tienen for more treatment. The baby could not be saved and was dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. 

The emergency services rushed to the scene and had to resuscitate the baby,

says Sarah Callewaert of the Leuven public prosecutor’s office. 

What led to the death of a baby at De Uiltjes daycare in Belgium?

The Leuven public prosecutor’s office has confirmed the incident and stated that emergency services did their best in the situation. Spokesperson Sarah Callewaert said that the authorities are still investigating what happened before the incident. 

At this time, the exact cause and details are not clear. Authorities mentioned that this incident has had a deep impact on everyone involved. The daycare center and the local community are struggling with this loss. More information is expected as the investigation moves forward.

After the incident at the De Uiltjes daycare center, the Leuven public prosecutor’s office started an investigation to find out what caused the baby’s death. A forensic pathologist and a lab team were sent to the scene to look for evidence and examine the area. 

The daycare center was closed off to allow for a careful investigation. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow, January 17, 2025, to help understand the blank”>reasons behind the child’s death. The community is waiting for news as the investigation continues.
