Elisa Spiropali, the Speaker of the Albanian Parliament, convened a meeting to discuss the draft of the new Strategic Plan for Parliament for the years 2025-2030. The session included ambassadors from EU member states, representatives from the OSCE in Albania, chairs of parliamentary committees, and various strategic partners.
During the meeting, Spiropali emphasized that this strategic plan articulates a clear and decisive vision, underscoring Albania’s aspirations as an EU member.
“Albania is not waiting to be ready. Albania is taking action today—with reforms and dedication—and Parliament is set to play a central role in this endeavor,” she stated.
She described Albania’s goal of EU membership by 2030 as ambitious yet entirely feasible, given the momentum of the integration process and the depth of necessary reforms.
“The Strategy for 2025-2030 is part of our efforts to reach this objective, and Parliament must rise to meet the challenges it presents. We are committed to ensuring that by the end of the next legislative term, the Albanian Parliament reflects the standards of an EU member state,” Spiropali added.
The event featured the presence of Silvio Gonzato, the European Union Ambassador to Tirana, along with several other ambassadors from EU nations in Albania.
During the discussions, participants expressed their appreciation for the ongoing collaboration with the Albanian Parliament, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening democratic governance and enhancing institutional effectiveness. They aimed to build a parliament that is transparent, inclusive, and well-prepared to tackle the challenges associated with Albania’s journey toward EU membership. (31 January)
