Labour Leader Keir Starmer emphasized the importance of ensuring economic growth benefits everyone across the United Kingdom, stating, “We also believe that growth must be felt by everyone, everywhere.”
To achieve more equitable progress, the government plans to track its success using key metrics, including real household disposable income and gross domestic product (GDP) per person.
The newly-formed Labour government has prioritized revitalizing the U.K. economy as its central mission. However, its efforts have faced a challenging start, with mixed public reception and criticism over a budget that introduced tax increases. Starmer’s recent speech is viewed as a renewed attempt to rally public support and inspire optimism around Labour’s growth agenda.
