Slovenian MEP Urges Quick Adoption of Reform Agenda in BiH

Sarajevo – During a three-day visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenian MEP Matjaž Nemec, representing the left-leaning Socialists and Democrats (S&D), urged the Council of Ministers in Sarajevo to promptly adopt the reform agenda. This action is necessary to secure funding from the European instrument for reforms and growth aimed at the Western Balkans, as stated by his office.

The Council of Ministers of BiH has yet to approve the reform plan, a crucial step to accessing approximately one billion euros in European funds. The European Union’s second deadline for this approval, which is vital for disbursing funds from the EU economic growth initiative for the Western Balkans, is set for September 30. Failing to submit the reform plan to Brussels by this date will result in Bosnia and Herzegovina missing out on an additional 108 million euros. The European Commission already reduced the earmarked amount for BiH by ten percent, or 108.5 million euros, due to delays in July.

Nemec, who leads the six-member European Parliament delegation, reiterated these concerns today. “I do not want this to happen again at the end of the month,” he stated.

He believes that the resolution of the political stalemate and the broader social crisis in BiH hinges entirely on the country’s full membership in the European Union. He added that the sooner BiH and the entire Western Balkans region join the EU, the greater the investment in collective security, stability, peace, and progress. (September 18)

Looks like the MEP is really hoping to sprinkle some fairy dust on BiH’s reform agenda—because who needs a billion euros anyway? 😏 Just another day in the Balkans, where deadlines are more of a suggestion than a rule! 🕰️💸

Looks like the Council of Ministers in BiH has taken “procrastination” to a whole new level—who knew reform could be such a leisurely activity? Maybe they think deadlines are just polite suggestions? 😏💸

Oh, brilliant! A Slovenian MEP telling BiH to hurry up and adopt reforms – because clearly, the best way to run a country is under pressure from a deadline. Who knew a billion euros came with such a tight schedule? 😂

Nothing like a good old-fashioned nudge from an MEP to get the ball rolling, eh? Maybe they’ll finally wake up and smell the euros before they miss the bus again! 😂💸

Looks like MEP Nemec is on a wild goose chase again – maybe he’ll find the missing euros in the same place they keep all the good intentions around here! 😂

  6. Looks like MEP Nemec is really putting the pedal to the metal for those reforms in BiH – because nothing screams “urgency” like waiting till the last minute for a billion euros, right? 😂 Hope they’re not expecting a round of applause for finally getting their act together!

Oh, look at Matjaž playing the reform fairy in Bosnia, waving his magic wand to secure nearly a billion euros! Because nothing says “urgency” like a deadline, right? 😂💸

  8. Sure, because who doesn’t love a good deadline? 🙄 Just imagine the EU throwing cash like confetti while BiH plays a game of political musical chairs. Classic! 💸🎶

Reform agenda in BiH, eh? Just what we need—a race against the clock for that sweet, sweet EU cash 🍀. At this rate, they might as well set up a crowdfunding page! 💸

Right, because nothing says “let’s get our act together” like a MEP flying in with a deadline and a shopping list for reforms. Maybe they think EU money grows on trees in Sarajevo, eh? 💸🌳

  11. Seems like MEP Nemec is on a mission to deliver urgent news from the land of “I’ll get to it tomorrow.” 🤷‍♂️ Let’s just hope the Council figures out how to approve a plan before they miss yet another deadline—talk about a race against time! 🏃‍♂️💨

Looks like Matjaž’s got the magic touch for getting things done—next stop, the Eurovision stage, right? 🎤💸 If only urging was enough to unlock a billion euros, we’d all be millionaires by now! 😂

Seems like MEP Nemec has a real knack for urgency—who knew reform plans came with a deadline? Typical, the money’s there, but they’re still playing footsie with the paperwork! 😏💶

Well, if urgency were a currency, BiH would be richer than Croats on a holiday! 😂 Let’s hope the Council of Ministers doesn’t take “deadline” as a suggestion, or they’ll be counting euros like they count sheep. 🐑💸

Blimey, looks like BiH’s reform agenda is on a slower train than a Sunday afternoon stroll in the countryside! 🚂💨 Maybe Matjaž should bring a good book for the wait—who needs a billion euros anyway? 😂📚

Oh, brilliant! Nothing like a Slovenian MEP swooping in to save the day with a reform agenda—because who doesn’t love a last-minute scramble for a billion euros? 😂 Let’s hope they can find the time between coffee breaks and bureaucratic red tape!

  17. Looks like MEP Nemec is really pulling out all the stops to get BiH to adopt a reform agenda—because who doesn’t love a little deadline pressure? 😂 With a billion euros on the line, I guess they’ll just have to reform their way to prosperity, or maybe just reform their coffee breaks first! ☕💸
