Siljanovska Davkova – Radev: Bilateral disputes should be resolved within the framework of EU principles and values

Skopje – The President of North Macedonia, Gordana Siljanovska Davkova met with her Bulgarian counterpart Rumen Radev on the sidelines of the Climate Change Conference – COP29 in Baku. At the meeting, which, as informed by the President’s Office, lasted one hour and took place in a constructive atmosphere, they discussed the need to improve Macedonian-Bulgarian relations, to overcome the open issues between the two countries, as well as the possibilities for deepening and dynamizing bilateral cooperation in several areas of mutual interest.

The two interlocutors presented their positions regarding possible solutions to the challenges of Macedonia’s Euro-integrations. The President emphasized the importance of continuing the bilateral political dialogue at all levels and pointed out that the positions and interests of both parties must be respected and that the resolution of bilateral disputes should be within the framework of the fundamental values and principles of the European Union.

Siljanovska Davkova, as pointed out by the Office, emphasized that relations should be developed on the basis of mutual respect, support, and active cooperation that will contribute to strengthening trust and friendship between the two peoples.

The Bulgarian President Radev, as stated in the announcement, pointed out the need for quick resolution of open issues, as well as the need to establish good relations in all areas of mutual interest for easier mutual understanding.

The two interlocutors, as stated in the announcement from the President’s Office, agreed on the organization of official visits where commitments for better overall cooperation between the two countries will be concretized. (November 13)
