A recent report by Bruss’Help has revealed that 2,649 individuals—accounting for 27 percent of the counted population—are living in non-traditional housing situations. These include unauthorized shelters, makeshift accommodations, and squats. Additionally, 1,539 people, or 16 percent of those surveyed, are residing temporarily with third parties.
Bruss’Help emphasized that “the scale of the problem exceeds all individual initiatives,” expressing hope that the findings will guide policymakers toward more effective, sustainable, and compassionate public policy solutions.
This biennial study, conducted with the support of volunteers, provides crucial insights into the scope and nature of homelessness throughout the region. A more in-depth qualitative report is expected to be released in June.
