KINGNEWSWIRE // PRESS RELEASE // Churches and missions across the continent continue local initiatives in drug prevention, human rights education, moral education and volunteer service, aligning social betterment work with European values of dignity, freedom, equality and respect for human rights.
BRUSSELS, Belgium — 30 April 2026 — Scientologists, churches and missions throughout Europe are sustaining a variety of community-based initiatives that enhance public life through education, prevention, and practical service. These initiatives range from drug prevention campaigns and human rights education to volunteer support and neighborhood projects, showcasing Scientology communities’ enduring dedication to civic responsibility and widely acknowledged European values.
The activities are executed by Church of Scientology churches, missions, and groups in Europe, along with individual Scientologists and volunteers in cities and towns across the continent. Although each initiative addresses local conditions, they all share the common goal of aiding individuals in understanding their rights, making informed decisions, enhancing ethical responsibility, and supporting their communities.
Europe’s founding values, as articulated in Article 2 of the Treaty on European Union, encompass respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law, and human rights. Scientology communities in Europe perceive these principles not as mere concepts but as responsibilities that can manifest in daily social action, community education, and tangible assistance.
This approach is further strengthened through the Church’s educational initiative “Europe’s Values, Your Rights”, a straightforward campaign presented by the European Office of the Church of Scientology for Public Affairs and Human Rights. The initiative elucidates key European protections, including the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and the European Convention on Human Rights, using official EU and Council of Europe sources. It primarily aims to educate young adults and the broader public, aiding them in understanding the rights and civic principles that shape democratic life in Europe.
Among the most recognized social betterment initiatives supported by Scientologists is the Foundation for a Drug-Free World, whose “Truth About Drugs” materials are utilized by volunteers and community groups to deliver factual information on drugs and their effects. Across Europe, these efforts have included awareness events, booklet distribution, school and community outreach, and collaboration with local associations to bolster prevention among youths and families.
Another significant area of focus is human rights education. Through Youth for Human Rights and related educational activities, Scientology-supported volunteers promote awareness of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, particularly targeting young audiences. The program seeks to render human rights comprehensible in practical terms, advocating respect for others, rejection of discrimination, and acknowledgment of the dignity of every individual.
The Church’s social betterment efforts also encompass The Way to Happiness, a non-religious moral education guide authored by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard. Utilized in community contexts by volunteers and partner organizations, it presents practical principles such as respecting others, protecting children, being trustworthy, and striving for honesty. In many European settings, these initiatives
