Bucharest – Cristian Buşoi, Secretary of State in Romania’s Ministry of Energy, attended an informal meeting of the European Union’s Energy Ministers, which was convened under the Polish Presidency of the Council in Warsaw from May 12-13, 2025. The meeting focused on two primary issues: the rebuilding of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and preparations for the winter in both the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, as well as enhancing energy security through improved access to clean technologies.
During both formal and informal discussions, Buşoi emphasized Romania’s commitment to supporting the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.
“Romania reaffirms its solidarity with Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, joining the European Union in efforts to bolster the energy resilience of these countries. Together, we will ensure energy security in the region,” Buşoi stated in a press release.
At a working meeting of the Nuclear Alliance discussing clean technologies and the region’s energy future, Buşoi highlighted the need for the PINC (Nuclear Illustrative Program of the Commission) to acknowledge nuclear energy’s vital role in achieving decarbonization goals and securing the European Union’s energy stability.
He also noted that Romania is investing in nuclear energy, gas production from the Black Sea, and renewable energy sources, while promoting clean technologies.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Buşoi participated in a working group with European Energy Commissioner Dan Jorgensen, Moldovan Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu, representatives from the Polish Presidency, and other European officials to identify immediate support solutions for Moldova. Additionally, he met with Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galuşcenko to discuss restoring Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and assisting the country in addressing its energy requirements in the coming period.
