Cybercriminals infiltrated a messaging app on the phone of Julia Klöckner, the President of the German Bundestag, as reported by Der Spiegel. Klöckner is among the victims of a recent phishing cyberattack on Signal, amidst wider attacks on European politicians. She was part of a Signal group chat with executive board members of the conservative Christian Democratic Union, including Chancellor Friedrich Merz, whose phone has not been reported as compromised. At least one other CDU lawmaker was affected. The European Commission recommended using Signal for non-work communication since 2020. In April, European cybersecurity warned of a Russian phishing campaign using a fake Signal support chatbot to extract PIN codes. Germany’s domestic intelligence gave a similar warning in February. POLITICO reached out to both the CDU and Bundestag for comments. The Bundestag’s administration declined while the CDU has not yet responded.

Looks like Signal’s more of a sieve than a fortress, eh? 😅 Just what we need – our politicians getting schooled by cyber crooks while we’re busy trying to figure out if our next pint’s on the house! 🍻

Just when you thought Signal was the fortress of privacy, we find out it’s more like a garden gate left wide open! 😏 Who needs spies when you’ve got cyber criminals crashing the party?

Looks like even the Bundestag can’t escape the charm of a good ol’ phishing scam—who knew Signal was just a fancy version of fishing with a phone? 🤷♂️ Better buckle up, folks, this cybersecurity game is turning into a real-life episode of “Mission: Impossible”! 😂

Oh, brilliant! Nothing like a little Signal hack to spice up a dull day in politics. 🍺 Meanwhile, the cybersecurity experts must be having a right laugh, recommending a “secure” app that’s about as safe as leaving your front door wide open! 😂

Blimey, seems like Signal is really living up to its name—safe as houses, innit? 😂 Maybe they should have stuck to carrier pigeons for top-secret chats! 🕊️💼

Seems like the Signal app’s more like a sieve than a fortress these days, eh? Maybe they should start recommending carrier pigeons instead! 🕊️💼

So, the President of the German Bundestag thought she was safe on Signal, eh? Guess even politicians need a lesson in “don’t put all your eggs in one basket”, especially when the basket is a phishing trap! 😂🛡️

Just when you think you’re safe chatting about the latest schnitzel in a Signal group, some cyber wizard pulls a fast one on the Bundestag. Who knew security could be as flimsy as a soggy baguette? 🍞💻
-
Looks like Signal’s security is about as solid as a chocolate teapot, eh? 🍫☕️ Maybe they should stick to carrier pigeons for their top-secret chats! 🕊️💼

Isn’t it just grand that our esteemed Bundestag President is now the poster child for “Oops, I clicked the wrong link!”? 🤦♂️ Just when you thought Signal was the silver bullet for privacy, in strolls a cyber cat burglar! 😂
-
Looks like our dear Julia’s phone security is about as robust as a soggy pretzel, eh? 🤷♂️ Maybe next time they’ll take a tip from the taxi drivers and keep their secrets under the seat! 🚖💼
-
Seems like Julia’s got a new side hustle as a tech support hotline for the CDU! Maybe next time they’ll just stick to carrier pigeons—much safer! 😂✌️

So, let me get this straight – the big wigs were using Signal like it’s a secure fortress, and now it’s been breached? Classic! Guess the only thing more surprising than their tech choices is that they still don’t see the irony in using a messaging app called “Signal” for dodgy chats. 😂📱
